A Lesson Plan

This lesson was one that I really enjoyed, designed for one of my students who is an Event organiser. He wanted to sell tickets to an English market, thus increasing sales. We focused on pronunciation and the student developed confidence as the lesson progressed. I design lessons around you or your business, contact me today to find out how I can help you.....

Lesson plan
Topic: Boat Party
Objective: to work on phonics used in sentence constructions in a role play scenario.
Time 1 hour
The scene set is that you are the organiser for a boat party in your town. I am a tourist in the area and want to find out more information about the event. Please expand on your answers.
Organiser: hi!
Tourist: hi!
Tourist: I have an advert for an event that you are organising, I am just visiting the area for a few days and thought that it would be a great idea to go.
Organiser: sure what would you like to find out more about?
Tourist: how much are the tickets?
Organiser: the tickets are priced at 30 euros per person and that includes a complementary drink.
Tourist: what is the age range for the event?
Organiser: the age range is from 25 to 35 but that's just an average you are welcome to come whatever age you are, the only rule is that you must be over the age of 18.
Tourist: is it a licenced boat?
Organiser: Yes, it's a fully licensed and legal venue, all our paperwork is displayed both here at this booking office and on board the boat.
Tourist: What time does the boat leave?
Organiser: The boat leaves at 9 pm, we ask that you are boarded before 8.30. If for any reason you are late boarding we will not issue any refunds on the tickets.
Tourist: how long is the event for?
Organiser: Once we are out in the water, we will remain there for a duration of 4 hours and the boat will return to shore at 1 am in the morning.
Tourist: Where does the boat leave from?
Organiser: The boat will leave from the bay. When you enter the Bay you will see an area to your right which will display the mooring number, simply make your way there and someone will be outside the boat to check your tickets.
Tourist: What type of music will there be on board?
Organiser: We play a mix of music that caters for all tastes, that way we know that everyone will have a good time. If you have a particular type of music that you like, provided it is current you can make a request with the DJ.
Tourist: I have some friends coming here this weekend, but I don't know what time they will arrive. I would love them to come, what is the latest time they can buy a ticket?
Organiser: the boat leaves at 9 pm, you can purchase a ticket up to 7pm. After that time we will no longer be selling tickets as we need a final count before the boat leaves.
Tourist: If they miss this event, when will the next one be?
Organiser: The next party has been scheduled for the same time next week. Tourist: what's your name? Organiser: My names Jack.
Tourist: I'm Sam, I am just going back to my hotel to check that my friends are still coming here for the weekend. If they are, then I will come back and buy four tickets.
Organiser : Please remember that this office will be closing at 2 pm this afternoon, then we will be open again between 5 pm and 8 pm tonight.
Tourist: That's great, you have been very helpful, hope to see you later!
Organiser: Hope to see you later too!
Tourist: Bye
Organiser: Bye
